Beginning the Pediatric Palliative or Hospice Care Process
Pediatric palliative or hospice care may begin once a referral (formal request) is provided. He or she will usually begin by paying visit to the patient within a 48 hour period after receiving the referral and approval from a physician.
In situations that require urgent care, pediatric hospice or palliative care can begin immediately in place of waiting for a referral to be processed. The child patient and their family also have the option of choosing a “self referral,” indicating their request for an evaluation of their child before beginning pediatric palliative or hospice care services.Learn more
