How We Can Help
Our team of palliative and hospice care physicians provide medical care for children with chronic and life limiting illnesses to ensure proper medical care and symptom management.
The nurse practitioners at KidsCare of the Rockies provide support with care coordination, decision making, treatment plans, physical examinations, and pain and symptom management.
Pediatric Care Nurses
Our nursing team provides children with treatment plans, including changes in medication and developing prognoses to maximize quality of life for the patient.
Certified Nursing Assistants
Our team of certified nursing assistants measure vital signs and assist children with activities of daily living (ADLs) for those who are in need of extra care and support.
Licensed Clinical Social Workers
Our licensed clinical social workers help patients and their families navigate community and financial resources, as well as provide counseling to help manage emotional stress through effective coping techniques.
The massage therapy team provides massage therapy to promote relaxation, improved quality of sleep, and decreased pain. The massage therapists at KidsCare of the Rockies use a wide variety of massage techniques to decrease intensity of symptoms in certain areas of the body.
Our music therapists allow children to engage in music-related activities that promote relaxation and decrease stress. Our music therapists will observe your child’s physical or cognitive state to construct a plan involving music that will stimulate their mind and relax their body.
Child Life Specialists
Our child life specialists work with children and their families to overcome mental challenges presented by life limiting illnesses. Child life specialists teach children coping techniques to reduce feelings of fear, pain and anxiety.
Our chaplains will provide compassionate spiritual guidance for children and their families, performing religious rituals or prayers in addition to discussing the next steps of your spiritual journey, regardless of your belief system.

Beginning the Pediatric Palliative or Hospice Care Process
Pediatric palliative or hospice care may begin once a referral (formal request) is provided. The patient will generally receive their first visit within a 48 hour period after the formal request has been approved by a physician.
For patients that require urgent care, pediatric hospice or palliative care can begin immediately in place of waiting for a referral to be processed. The patient and their family also have the option of choosing a “self referral,” indicating their request for an evaluation of their child before beginning pediatric palliative or hospice care.Palliative Care Hospice Care
